If you know the specific item you want, then before requesting an Interlibrary loan (ILL), check HillSearch to see if the library already has the item.

One way to create an ILL request is to use WorldCat, a database of items held in individual libraries all over the world. You can use WorldCat when you already know what you want to borrow or when you need to identify material that is not in our library.

After finding a record for an item you wish to obtain through ILL, first check for this symbol:STONEHILL COLLEGE. It indicates that the MacPhaidin Library owns the item. Check HillSearch for the item. If it is not available in the library, then back in WorldCat, in the Detailed Record, note the number of Libraries Worldwide that claim to have the item. The more libraries that own the item, the better your chances of borrowing from one of them.

Click on "Borrow From Another Library", which opens a log-in window for ILLiad. After logging in, ILLiad should display a borrowing form pre-populated with information from the WorldCat Detailed record. Review the information, then click "Submit" at the bottom of the borrowing form.

Call (508 565-1538) or email the Interlibrary Loan Office if you have any questions or problems.
