The Challenge Project is in many respects the theoretical and practical culmination of the class. Student teams are required to interview an executive at a company. The focus of the interview is to identify a people management problem and to develop a path model of associated strategy and tactics. This path model, via research, is to be respecified. An important focus of this project is to identify tactics appropriate to their firm/industry associated with the model. In prior projects (e.g., Theory & Practice” presentations), the tactics are extracted from movies. In this project, non-movie sources are the focus; traditional business resources should be utilized. Finally, the student group is expected to make recommendations regarding strategic and practical changes.
